Venus retrograde ended yesterday. After being in a Venus themed underworld for 40 days and 40 nights, we have risen.
Look back on the last 40 days, since March 4.
Did a particular relationship become rock solid?
Did a shaky relationship break apart?
Were there relationships that just didn't feel right anymore?
Maybe you came across all three experiences. Venus helped clarify how we want to connect with our partners, whether they be friends, coworkers, family, or lovers. Where there's clarity, there's relief.
Funnily enough, this retrograde happened at the same time as Lent. Also Venus went direct between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Venus and Jesus have more in common than we think. The Sumerian goddess of fertility, love, wisdom, war, and lust, Inanna, was said to represent the planet of Venus, and in the myth "Inanna's Descent into the Underworld" she's stuck on a meat hook for three days. Her Mesopotamian counterpart, Ishtar, has to deal with the same fate. The name Ishtar sounds a lot like Easter, and "on the third day he rose again". Just saying.
To make it through the retrograde you sacrificed the way you were in partnership to become who you are right now. Maybe it was conscious and carried out with the precariousness one feels when walking through the underworld. Maybe it hit you like the shock of being hung up by a meat hook (not to mention it was Inanna's (Ishtar's) twin sister, Ereshkigal (Belili), who sticks her up there, talk about emotional overload with a hit of excrutiating pain to boot).
I hope the clarity from this Venus retrograde brought you a new sense of freedom. I hope it gave you the opportunity to be with the people you truly want to be around. I hope it gave you the strength to be satisfied with your own company, and to shut out the noise of partnerships that don't serve you.
We've risen from the underworld, and up here all we see is spring.
May the festivities begin.
P.S. Don't worry if things still feel a little fuzzy in the wake of rising to this new found freedom. Jupiter, Mercury, and Saturn are all in retrograde right now. It's part of the ongoing pattern of coming to a breakthrough and then having time to reflect on it. I see this as a time of reflection and breakthroughs before the eclipse in August. With all this clarity we're coming to we'll be ready to make whatever shifts we desire come late summer and early fall.
